WK2 – GLAMFA Artist – April Bey

As I walked around the art galleries at Long Beach State, I came across this modern artwork created by April Bey.

ModernEyeOur society is based on trends that we see on social media and this art work shows a lot about it. The fact that we enjoy hearing Beyonce’s new album over and over again, but some of us struggle to sit at church on a Sunday morning. The way we talk to each other with lack of respect. The interest we come across with that will not have a significant impact in our futures. At the end of the day, we come to realize that we can be selfish in a certain way. This project makes me realize that I should reconsider my surroundings. To disregard unnecessary remarks given by the negative people and inspires me to find better interest that will help me strive for a successful future.

April Bey started her artistic life in the Bahamas and focused her art work with all the popular culture. In 2009, she received her BFA in drawing from Ball State University and in 2014, she received her MFA from California State University, Northridge.
