Aside from school, I’m a California State Board License Barber. I’ve been license for 2 and a half years, but I’ve been cutting hair for 3 years now. Everything started my senior year in high school when I did not have a job. I tried applying everywhere around my neighborhood, but no one got back to me. My older brother is a barber and he told me he was willing to teach me but I didn’t want to be a barber. I saw it as standing up all day for 12 hours, in the same spot cutting hair. It seemed so boring but I needed money, so I went for it.
I’m glad I became a barber because I see it as an art work. I don’t see it as a job, I see it as a hobby, and I love my hobby. There’s no stress, no hard work, and you work your own schedule.
